6. Hover cursor over Events at top left and choose List, the Category, then Jr Clinics and then the clinic you want to register your child.
WTEF Tennis programming includes athletic development, stroke fundamentals, and play-based activities. Players are grouped based by age and skill level. Players are introduced to performance training and expected to train at an elevated level. The goal of this program is to continue to develop all aspects of the player’s game, athletic development, technical and tactical training, and mental preparation for competition. This program is for players who are committed to training and competing in tournaments on a full-time basis.
Our WTEF Pathway is backed by the USTA’s American Development Model that encourages fun and positive experiences using modified equipment sized right for youth players while they progress through their tennis journey.
WTEF at the Rock Creek Tennis Center ( 8 Week Clinics)
January 2 through February 24, 2023 (No clinics on Monday, January 16 and Monday, February 20, 2023)
West – Red Ball I – Mondays 4-5 pm (Recommended Ages 4-6)
An introduction to the sport for our youngest tennis players. In this class, we will focus on the FUNdamentals. Players will develop their ABCs (Agility, Balance, and Coordination) while learning basic racquet and ball control. There will be an introduction to serving, rallying, and scoring. This class is team-based and players are encouraged to develop character traits such as listening skills, responsibility and honesty. Minimum 4 players.
West – Orange/Green – Mondays 4-5 pm (Ages 7-12)
Combination – Orange/Green Ball – Ages 7 and Up (the appropriate ball will be used based on the player’s ability/play level)
Orange – At this stage, players will learn and continue to build on foundational skills. This class is designed to learn and improve basic stroke techniques and athletic skills and compete in a fun and game-based environment. Players will continue learning and refining the skills necessary to serve, rally and score. Players will be challenged to cover a larger court size. We will foster an environment where students are encouraged to develop character traits such as honesty, responsibility and resilience.
Green – This program is designed for beginner to intermediate-level players. Students will be challenged to learn and improve their stroke mechanics, movement, balance and coordination. This group will be introduced to competition and tactics. We will encourage players to develop their technique and consistency across their game. Players will be challenged to cover a larger court size. Intermediate players will be encouraged to experiment with different tactics and strategies, understand areas of strength in individual games and the development of game style.
West – Intermediate to Advanced – Mondays 5-7 pm (Ages 10-18)
Designed for ages 10-18 tournament-level players who possess the required ability, desire and skills.
Middle and high-school-aged players who aspire to compete in high school tennis and/or USTA Sectional L6 and L7 tournaments.
High school players aged players who aspire to compete in USTA Sectional L5 and up tournaments and play college tennis.
Players are introduced to performance training and expected to train at an elevated level. This program is for players who are committed to training and competing in tournaments.
