Coach Agathe is a USPTR-certified high performance instructor and played internationally including in ITF tournaments and Fed Cup competition, representing Cameroon, where she was the number one ranked player. She trained in France under the supervision of former French Open champion Yannick Noah. She has coached junior players who have reached top rankings not only in the mid-Atlantic section, but who have gone on to win national and international championships and who have been ranked internationally.
Program Information
Beginner
For those students with little to no experience playing tennis. Students will learn the basic foundational skills and steps involved in stroke production with particular focus on body positioning (ready position and setup, racquet take-back) stroke mechanics, and proper footwork.
Junior and Junior Advance Levels
Junior Level: Students will learn the basic foundational skills and steps involved in stroke production with particular focus on body positioning (ready position and setup, racquet take-back) stroke mechanics, and proper footwork. Recommended for children ages 6 + with some prior tennis experience.
Junior Intermediate Level: For those students who have learned the basic foundational steps taught in Junior level and are continuing to develop proper strokes with proper preparation, footwork, and body positioning.
Coach Agathe's High Performance instruction will provide students with a rigorous European academy-style training regimen focused around proper footwork, stroke technique, as well as optimal court positioning, explosive speed, efficient movement, and recovery. Performance instruction will employ an intensive drill-based approach to develop sustained rally tolerance and strategic shot selection. Students will apply their training in situational point and match play. Stamina, endurance, physical as well as mental toughness will also be a major component of the training. Students may also be asked to keep a training/match player development journal.
