Volunteer Opportunities at WTEF
Numerous opportunities exist for volunteers who like working with young people and who are available afternoons and/or early evenings. Selected opportunities are also available for single event or occasional volunteers. Examples include:
EDUCATION Daytime tutoring once a week in the Arthur Ashe Reading is Fundamental Program, usually Monday through Thursday from 1-4 p.m. This involves assisting primary grade students in a developmental reading and enrichment program. A typical commitment might be for 45 minutes per week.
After school tutoring in the Center for Excellence - Educational Enrichment Component, also usually Monday through Thursday but from 4-7 p.m. Tutors assist students with their homework in specific subject areas, and/or character building issues. A typical time commitment might involve 1 hour per week.
Mentoring students in the Center for Excellence. Mentors meet with their assigned student once a month, or more frequently if the mentor is available.
SPECIAL EVENTS Working with annual events such as the Kids' Day Program, tennis challenges, field trips, and other special activities.
Organizing or assisting with fund-raising events such as the VIP Round Robin or WTEF Tennis Ball.
Providing behind the scenes support for the Legg Mason Tennis Classic.
OFFICE TASKS Website development & maintenance of www.wtef.org.
Administrative support such as data entry.
Assist with mailings and newsletter distribution.
