Congressional Charity Tennis Tournament

The Annual WTEF Congressional Charity Tennis Tournament is held each fall at WTEF’s East Capitol Campus located in Ward 7.  The tournament brings together Members of Congress, tennis legends and DC business leaders to play tennis and support WTEF’s programs that keep children from low-income, underserved neighborhoods in the District. All tournament proceeds will benefit the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation.

The tournament will takes place at WTEF’s East Capitol Campus, a state-of-the-art Tennis, Education and Community Center (200 Stoddert Place, SE, DC 20019) 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Past legends include, Lori McNeil, Zina Garrison, Chanda Rubin, Dan Waldman, Richey Renneberg, Kathy Rinaldi, and rising star Taylor Townsend. 

The tournament is full of spirited tennis competition among Congressional members who have included Jared Huffman, Charlie Dent, Joyce Beatty, and Kevin Yoder.

Schedule of Events

 

11 a.m.                                       TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION

On Monday, September 14, tournament registration will begin at 11 a.m. in the main lobby. 

 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.         PLAYING TIME WITH TENNIS LEGENDS

All sponsors are welcome to enjoy one-on-one playing time with the Legends.

 12:15 p.m. – 1 p.m.                  LUNCH BUFFET

A lunch buffet will be available in the new center during a short speaking program.

 1 p.m.                                        PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

Photos with the Legends and Members of Congress will be available for all participants.

 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.                    TOURNAMENT PLAY

Introductions and acknowledgments will be made at 1:15 PM and tournament play will begin at 1:30 p.m. and continue to 4 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony.
