2011 Congressional Charity Tennis Tournament
On Monday, September 10, 2012 WTEF hosted its annual Congressional Charity Tennis Tournament at Washington Golf and Country Club. Under sunny skies, Members of Congress, professional tennis legends and sponsors joined together for an enjoyable afternoon of tournament play. Co-Chaired by Rep. Norm Dicks and Rep. Ed Whitfield, the event brought together more than 50 individuals in support of WTEF programs and the underserved youth of DC. Others in attendance included Representatives Jim Moran, Eric Paulsen, Charlie Dent and Bob Goodlatte; Senators Tom Udall and Kirsten Gillibrand; and tennis legends Kathy Rinaldi, Zina Garrison, Fred McNair, Fred Stolle and Owen Davidson. Thanks to the generous support of corporate sponsors including top supporter General Dynamics, the event raised $118,000 for WTEF’s programs. “As a member of the WTEF Board of Directors and Co-Chair of this great event, I am encouraged to see this generous response from Members of Congress and the Washington Community,” said WTEF Board Member Diane O’Toole. “The money raised will be invested in a community in desperate need of our support. It is a true win not only for those of us who get to enjoy a beautiful day of tennis, but for the children east of the river who benefit from WTEF’s life-changing programs.”
